Marching to Zion
After a month of travel, the smaller groups re-gathered in Jerusalem for some final classes and graduation. After months living in different Muslim contexts, it was a quite a change of pace to be in Israel. We had several days of rest, stayed in the Old City, heard from local workers about their ministries, traveled to Hebron and to the Golan Heights, and graduated on the Mount of Olives.
The graduation ceremony was a celebration, but also bittersweet. It is not likely that everyone from this Emmaus walk will all be together again, and acknowledging the end to our rich and precious time together was difficult to say the least. One thought that comforted us: most of us will be back in the region very soon.
